In our testing in our tests, the X8 Pro performed well on all types of floors. Its three-brush cleaning system is also better suited for hardwood floors than Roomba's 2-brush model. The X8 Pro has a programmable bucket that automatically emptys after each sweep, and after every second or three times it returns to the docking station.
Roborock MaxV
The S7 MaxV is a double-duty robot mop and vacuum that provides strong cleaning performance. The battery can last up to three and a half hours in its energy-efficient Quiet Mode, giving it ample runtime to get rid of light debris in large spaces. The MaxV also features a powerful Max+ mode that can tackle heavier messes, though it reduces the running time to less than 90 minutes.
MaxV's LiDAR navigation in conjunction with its dual camera map rooms and identifies furniture, objects and carpets. It utilizes Reactive AI 2.0 which proved efficient in our tests, to avoid these. The double camera on the MaxV gives it a higher view than the majority of other robots we tested. This means it's able to see baseboards and other details on floors with high ceilings.
The wide array of customization options includes linking it to voice control, allowing you to control the robot using Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, or Apple's Siri through Shortcuts. You can also set up multiple maps for different floors and utilize the app's scheduler to automatically clean your house at a specific time.

Although it's designed to stay clear of staircases, the X8 Pro can sometimes be confused by steep slopes and other obstacles especially when they're situated at the edge of an escalator. Make sure that any object is at minimum 1.5 feet (5cm) away from the edge of a staircase to stop the X8Pro from climbing up and over it.
A free mobile app lets you manage the X8 Pro from anywhere, with quick access to controls and maps, as well as more advanced settings like scheduling and auto-empty frequency. The design is somewhat similar to the D6 however, it doesn't feature as much shiny black plastic cladding. Instead matte finish that doesn't attract dust or other debris separates the D4's upper surfaces. A disc with a raised design that reads "neato" is atop the robot's rounded surface and hides the laser which is responsible for its navigation.
Like all Neato vacuums, the D4 starts its cleaning routine by driving through your home to map its layout. While initially it may seem random, there is an explanation behind this crazyness. It can be moved around walls and corners using a combination bumping and laser sensors.
Once the mapping process is finished, you'll see the floor plan of your home in the app that will highlight the areas the D4 has visited. The app will also show any issues the robot faced, such as a low battery or the need to dock. You can restrict the D4's access in certain areas by using the application to draw virtual "No-Go Lines" around furniture and objects that it should stay clear of.
Like all modern robotic vacuums, the D4 Connected is compatible with voice assistants and can be operated with simple commands. It can be used with Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Watch integrations and Neato's voice-control abilities. You can also set up the cleaning schedule and manage robot functions through the application.
The D4 also lets you set the daily or weekly cleaning schedule, toggle between Eco and Turbo mode, and switch on gentle navigation. It will even return to its base at the end of the day to recharge, but it must wait until its batteries have fully charged before this happens.
